We were a little nervous about the 9ft long kitchen island. Although I delight in overkill, I didn't want the kitchen to feel crowded, as it's the central gathering place. In my opinion, it's important to have a comfortable amount of space for mixing and mingling. I think it turned out just right.
Now for the accessories. We found a pair of fantastic pendant lights at a local shop in Fort Worth, The Old Home Supply. Back to overkilling things, I decided not to stop with two and added a third and different looking one into the mix. We've ordered stainless steel appliances and hardware, bringing out a contemporary element (I refuse to say modern, it's not me). The pendant lights create a vintage look, as they incorporate milk glass bulbs and hang from antique brass chains. I'm not into matchy matchy, mixing metals is my design style of choice! I'll share a photo once they are securely in place.
